Government Documents Internet Use

  • The Hekman Library provides access to the Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP) Electronic Collection to all users of the library, which includes residents in the Third Congressional District as well as members of the Calvin academic community.
  • Use of the FDLP Electronic Collection is free and unrestricted. Members of the Calvin Community can access the collection on the computers in the Digital Research Center. In most cases time limits and sign-up sheets are unnecessary, but time limits may be imposed if there is an unusually high demand. Guests and Alumni should inquire at the Government Documents office or the Research Assistance Desk for computer availability.
  • The workstations in the Digital Research Center are not filtered.
  • Users are not required to sign in or present identification.
  • Users of the Digital Research Center and Public Kiosk Computers are required to abide by the library’s “Responsible Use of Library Computers” policy, which is in compliance with the college’s “Responsible Use of Technology” document.
  • The Hekman Library currently charges for printing. The cost is .05 cents per page for members of the Calvin Community and .10 cents per page for Guests and Alumni.
  • Access to computers in the Digital Research Center is restricted to users with a Novell log in. Guest and Alumni users can use the nearby Public Kiosk Computers. Help is available at the nearby Research Assistance Desk.
