Using Hekman Library from Off-Campus
Whether you are off-campus locally or for an extended period of time, our goal is to support you in your academic studies with a number of services:
Hekman librarians offer research assistance via a number of contact options, including live "virtual" reference help. Consult the library's Research Services page for details. You may also want to consult this suite of video tutorials to become more acquainted with what we have to offer.
Remote Electronic Access
If you're off-campus, whether in a semester abroad program or living in an apartment near campus, and you locate electronic sources using the library catalog and/or our Research Databases, you should be able to access them by entering your Novell login ID and passphrase when prompted. (See alternate log-in instructions for seminary users.) Please contact us via our Research Services page or on our feedback form if you have trouble accessing these electronic services.
Delivery of Physical Items
Delivery of physical (non-electronic) items is available for members of the Calvin community outside of Grand Rapids (not off-campus locally). For assistance, contact us via our Research Services page or contact directly the librarian most closely associated with your department or off-campus program.
Delivery methods: Fax is available, but our preference is to email PDFs of journal articles, newspaper articles, book chapters, etc. Physical items can be mailed only within the United States.
Off-Campus for Seminary Students, Faculty, and Staff
For electronic library access, see these log in instructions for the Calvin Theological Seminary community. Seminarians or interns doing their field education are encouraged to use local resources as part of their training experience. But in certain cases when it may be helpful and necessary to get materials from Hekman Library, please contact one of the Theological Librarians: Paul Fields, or Gerone Lockhart.
