Former Student Workers in Library Careers

Here is a list of former student workers who made the decision to go on into careers in Library and Information Science (LIS). We're proud of these grads and what they're doing!

Amanda Drost - class of 2000, Social Work major; master's degree from Wayne State University, 2008. Amanda was a department assistant in our cataloging dept. from 2002-2009. She is now a cataloging librarian at Western Kentucky University.

Charlene Morrison (Pete) - class of 2002, English major. We were not able to discover anything about Charlene's master's degree, but we know she went on to grad school in LIS. She is now working for OCLC in Dublin, OH. OCLC is a worldwide library cooperative.

Diana Wenger - class of 2002, English major. No information on Diana's degree granting institution. She is now Youth Services Librarian at the Grand Rapids Public Library.

Debbie Mouw (Anema) - class of 2004, Computer Science major; master's degree from Indiana Bloomington, 2006. Debbie is as Electronic Resources Specialist with Western Michigan University Libraries.

Kricket Hoekstra - class of 2005, English major; master's degree from University of Michigan, 2008. Kricket is a Teen Services Librarian at Rochester Hills Public Library (Feb. 2008 to the present) in southeast Michigan.

Beth Ponstein (Pfreunder) - class of 2007, Language Arts major; master's degree from Wayne State University, 2010. Beth will soon be moving from Germany with her husband and son to Mankato, MN, where she hopes to find a library position.

Emily Hamstra - class of 2007, English and History double major; master's degree from University of Michigan, 2009. Emily is a Learning Librarian at the University of Michigan (July 2009 to present).

Mallory Snyder - class of 2009, Asian Studies major; master's degree from Wayne State University, 2010. Mallory lives in Kobe-shi, Hyogo, Japan. She's teaching at Aeon Amity, a chain of private English schools in Japan.

Michele McDaniel (Lindstedt) - class of 2009, English major; master's degree from University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, 2012. Michele is employed as a Circulation Assistant at Booth Library in Charleston, IL.

Natalie Karsten (Mulder) - class of 2010, Music major; master's degree from the University of Michigan, 2012. Natalie was a Teen Services Intern at Canton Public Library until she married and moved out to Ripon, California with her husband. She is seeking for a library job.

Courtney Busscher (VanderHulst) - class of 2011, English major; currently a student at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Courtney is President of the Special Libraries Association, Illinois Student Chapter. She's working as an intern at the Department of Justice in Washington, D.C. this summer.
