Starting places for library research

LibGuides are research guides created by the librarians at Hekman Library and designed to help you succeed in your research.

Our subject-specific guides direct you to resources tailored to your subject of interest, Every guide offers an overview of the relevant library resources related to each subject, from recommended reference books to reliable and authoritative websites to core research databases. There are also practical suggestions for how to take your research to the next step.

Our class guides offer course-specific help for a variety of classes at Calvin, including English 101 and Engineering 101. These guides have been created through collaboration between the professors and the liaison librarians. Class guides often give tips and strategies to find information that will help you complete assignments.

The librarians have also created a series of "How to find" guides to assist you in everything from finding your way around the library website to citing sources in a paper.

Each guide also provides the contact information of the librarian who created it, so feel free to ask questions or set up an appointment for further research assistance.
