New Animated Films - Check Them Out

One of our librarians, Francene Lewis, has a passion for anime, Japanese hand-drawn or computer animation. She worked with the manager of Cayvan Recorded Media (a special collection within the library) to select a list for our library users. Here are some of the newest ones along with links to the catalog records. Most users may check out 5 at a time for 7 days (with 2 renewals).

  • Porco Rosso
    An ex-WWI pilot, cursed to look like a pig, hunts air pirates over the Adriatic sea. 
  • Wolf Children
    A young woman fell in love with a werewolf and had two children, but she must raise them alone after their father dies. 
  • The Tale of the Princess Kaguya
    A woodcutter discovers a tiny girl inside a bamboo shoot and raises her as his own, and she quickly grows into an extraordinary young woman. However, her past is mysterious and just as extraordinary. 
  • Song of the Sea
    A boy and his sister, a girl who can turn into a seal, embark on a journey to save the faeries from a Celtic goddess. 
  • The Cat Returns
    After saving a cat one day, a girl discovers that the cat is actually the Prince of the Cat Kingdom, and accidentally accepts his hand in marriage. 
  • From Up on Poppy Hill
    Two teens work together to save their high school clubhouse after learning that it is going to be demolished, discovering their family history in the process.
