Section 1 of the Church Missionary Society archive contains primary source material relating to the Society's work in mainland China from 1834-1951. It consists of incoming papers such as letters, journals and annual reports sent by the missions to London. These papers hold information on the then current political situtation in China, various missionary matters and descriptions of their travels in the countryside and their work in the missions. The library owns only Section 1, parts 17, 18 and 19, primarily the mission to Fukien. This collection is located in the microforms area on the 2nd floor of the library.
