American Council of Learned Societies (ACLS) Humanities E-book Project is a fully searchable collection of high quality books in the humanities. E-books are full-text and available in three formats: page-image, text, and pdf.
The ACLS database contains 4,000+ e-books, provided through the collaboration of 30 learned societies, 112 publishers, and the librarians at the University of Michigan’s Scholarly Publishing Office. The database focuses on digitizing important works in the humanities that are frequently cited in literature, but not readily available. Fields currently covered include Archaeology, Art and Architectural History, Biblical Studies, Bibliographic Studies, Film and Media Studies, Folklore, Global Cultural Studies, Historical Studies, Linguistics, Literature, Literary Criticism, Musicology, Performance Studies (theater, music, dance), Philosophy, Political Science, Religion, Sociology, and Women’s Studies.
