The Cayvan Recorded Media oversees the Hekman Library's audio and audiovisual collections, provides a reserve for all types of recorded media, and houses the Cayvan Choral Music Collection.

Each volume is organized by country, and the history of music-making within that country is described and famous musicians profiled. Articles are followed by bibliographies and discographies.
