The Catholic Periodical and Literature Index Online is the
product of a partnership between ATLA and the Catholic Library
Association. The database covers all aspects of the Catholic faith and
lifestyle, and includes over 419,000 index citations of articles and
reviews published in Roman Catholic periodicals, Papal documents,
church promulgations, and books about the Catholic faith that are
authored by Catholics and/or produced by Catholic publishers.
The Christian Periodical Index, published by the association
of Christian Librarians, indexes more than 130 English language
periodicals. With coverage of journals from 1976 to the present, Christian periodical Index
contains over 200,000 records including both journal articles and
reviews. The journals included in the database cover a broad spectrum
of knowledge including science, literature, medicine, political
science, music, philosophy, history, sociology, nursing, and education.
In addition to these subject areas, Christian Periodical Index covers all major doctrinal positions within evangelical Christianity.
The HLSI identifies sermons contained in
books owned by the Hekman Library. Find sermon citations based on scripture passage, author, title, keyword, or subject and then use the call number to locate
the book on shelf.
OBO is a tool designed to help busy researchers at all levels, undergraduate through faculty, to find reliable sources of information quickly by directing them to exactly the right resource (chapter, book, website, archive, etc.) It is a springboard for new research that allows for seamless movement between texts and databases within Hekman's collection and beyond. In addition, it can be a starting point for organizing a research plan, or for preparing a writing assignment or syllabus.
Hekman Library owns access to two subject areas within OBO: Biblical Studies and International Relations.
The Philosopher's Index is a
bibliographic database with informative, author-written abstracts
covering scholarly research in all areas of philosophy. The literature
covered goes back to 1940 and includes journal articles, books, book
chapters such as contributions to an anthology, and book reviews.
R&TA currently abstracts more than 400 journals, with summaries produced by a team of scholars from around the world. English language abstracts are provided for articles in French, German, Dutch, Swedish, Norwegian, Afrikaans, Hebrew, Italian, and Spanish. Hekman Library does not have a subscription, so our users are limited to no more than five results per search.
