Abstract:
The world of ejournals has exploded within the last 5 years and libraries are struggling to find balance between electronic and print resources. Effective management and easy access to a distributed collection of online resources is a major challenge facing the Hekman Library today. One approach to ease the transition from print to electronic resources has been to make our catalog records smarter through dynamic inter-linking of these two related records.

Anatomy of a URL attempts to emphasize and shed light on the important life skill of knowing how URLs work. Uniform Resource Locators (URLs) can not only be thought of as a unique address for content on the web, but also as a means of transmitting data to the webserver that affects what you see. It is important to make the connection between the URL and what you see in your browser, because getting lost in cyberspace is no fun at all.

This introductory presentation highlights the main functional areas of the CMS, including creating pages, content objects and other page elements that make for an a la carte page building experience.
