Guides for Finding Electronic Books

Hekman Library's catalog, WebCat, contains nearly 150,000 records for electronic books (or "e-books").  Many of these are older books, some published even before 1700, but a number are newer, published within the past ten years.  When you do a search in WebCat, e-book records are displayed among the library's other resources:

 Ebook 1

To access an e-book, click on the link that appears in the record

Many recent e-books are made available through NetLibrary, and clicking on the e-book link will open a new browser window such as the one below.  If you are off-campus, you will be prompted for your KnightVision ID/password (seminarians should use your library barcode for both ID and password).

Ebook 2

Tips for accessing NetLibrary e-books:

  • "View this eBook" allows you to view the contents for 15 minutes.
  • "Checkout for 6 hours" by using a NetLibrary account (if you do not already have an account, you may create one at that time)
  • Once you are in NetLibrary, you may also choose to search the entire NetLibrary e-book collection.
