Research instruction at Calvin is most fully integrated in English 101,
in which the English instructors and librarians collaborate to introduce
research tools and the art of research in the context of writing and rhetorical arguments. Each section of 101 typically incorporates two to three class sessions of students working directly with a librarian assigned to that section. The librarians' sessions in English 101, however, work best as an introduction to college-level academic research.
For upper-level courses in which research may be more advanced or specialized to the discipline, it can be very helpful to invite a librarian into your classroom to discuss subject-oriented research tools or to reinforce basic research principles. A librarian can also work with you to prepare an online class guide tailored to your course's research assignment.
