The Hekman Library gratefully accepts gift books. Please review the policy outlined below. Contact Glenn Remelts (616.526.6072) if you have questions.

1. All donated material becomes the property of the Hekman Library.
   • Unused items will not be sent back to the donor.
   • Items donated to the library are added to the collection, shipped to other libraries in need, or sold in a used book sale. The decision is at the discretion of the library staff.  
2. We request that the donor deliver the items to the library. In rare cases, we will pick up material.  
3. For legal reasons the library cannot supply a cash appraisal for donated books.
4. Donations are acknowledged with a letter from the Library Director. The letter will include quantity and type of material donated. Please include your name, address, and phone number along with the donated material. 
5. Bookplates will only be placed in books of extraordinary value. The donor should provide the wording for the bookplate.
