CINAHL (Cumulative Index to Nursing & Allied Health Literature)


CINAHL provides indexing for over 2,737 journals and contains more than 1,000,000 records dating back to 1937 including information on nursing, biomedicine, health sciences librarianship, alternative medicine, consumer health, nursing dissertations, conference proceedings, standards of practice, educational software, audiovisuals and book chapters and other allied health disciplines.  Full text of more than 620 journals and 218 books is included with coverage dating back to 1937.

JSTOR


JSTOR is a database consisting of only full-text articles from interdisciplinary peer-reviewed journals. Journals are included on the basis of number of subscribers the journal has, citation analysis, recommendations from experts in the field, and the length of time that the journal has been published. Coverage for each title begins with the first publication, with most titles ending coverage between three and five years ago.

PsycINFO


PsycINFO is a department of the American Psychological Association. The PsycINFO database provides access to international literature in psychology and related disciplines including psychiatry, education, business, medicine, nursing, pharmacology, law, linguistics, and social work. Sources for the database include over 1,800 professional journals, chapters, books, reports, theses and dissertations, published internationally.

The Hekman Library ejournal locator provides title and subject access to all the electronic journals subscribed to by the Hekman Library.

WebCat Search Hints

- Subject-specific hints for searching the library catalog

  • To find books related to a specific school of Psychology type the name of the school of Psychology in WebCat basic search and click the Subject button. WebCat may prefer different related terms. (ie: Behaviorism Psychology instead of Behavioral Psychology)
  • To find books about a psychologist enter the last name in WebCat basic search and click the Subject button.
  • To find books by a psychologist enter the last name in the WebCat basic search and click the Author button.
  • To locate bibliographies on the author go to the Advanced WebCat search screen. Enter the psychologist's last name in the first box. In the second box, enter the word bibliography and select Subject in the drop-down menu.
