Warm up to a Good Book

Warm up to a Good Book

The library has a popular collection of books which we call Recreational Reading. It's located on the 3rd floor in the periodicals area, where there are comfortable chairs and softer lighting for a relaxed, home-like feel.

Lately, we've also been investing our budget dollars in building our books on CD collection in response to students' requests. These are especially popular with our library users who anticipate a long trip by car, or staff who regularly log lots of miles to and from work.

Here's a selected list of new audio books purchased in the past year. Most are immediately available; a few are "in process." All are shelved in Cayvan Recorded Media:

  1. The Astonishing Life of Octavian Nothing, Traitor to the Nation, vol. 2 (The Kingdom on the Waves), by N.T. Anderson
  2. Catching Fire, by Suzanne Collins
  3. The Help, by Kathryn Stockett
  4. The LItigators, John Grisham
  5. Lone Survivor, Marcus Luttrell
  6. The May Trees, Annie Dillard
  7. Nearing Home: Life, Faith, and Finishing Well, Billy Graham
  8. The Road, Cormac McCarthy
  9. The Spiderwick Chronicles, Books 1-5, Tony Der Tilizzi and Hollan Black
  10. War of the Worlds (Orson Welles classic 1938 Mercury Theater Radio Production
  11. The Warmth of Other Suns, Isabel Wilkerson

Keep in mind that there is one checkout per person for these high-demand books. Students' check out period is 3 days, with virtually unlimited renewals allowed. Now it's very easy to renew online!
