Oxford Research Encyclopedias

The Oxford Research Encyclopedias (OREs) offer long-form overview articles written, peer-reviewed and edited by leading scholars. They cover both foundational and cutting-edge topics in order to develop a substantive knowledge base for major areas of research across the humanities, social sciences and sciences.

Hekman Library has invested in three disciplines to date: Communication, Climate Science, and International Studies. Each ORE is updated reguarly. For example, you can see by consulting the "recently published" page that Climate Science was updated in December 2018 with the addition of two articles.

Each main subject is subdivided into smaller chunks. For example, the Communication ORE has subtopics on Journalism Studies, Political Communication, Critical/Cultural Studies and many more. Some examples from the International Studies area are Human Rights, Foreign Policy and Political Geography.

When professors ask for peer-reviewed sources, you can be sure that the Oxford Research Encyclopedias fit the requirement!
