Events at the Library

Library staff are busy planning events, both for pure amusement and learning, starting Monday, September 9.  Events:

  • Monday, Sept 9, 3 - 5: Library Open House. Main floor of Hekman Library will have information and game stations, including button making and learning about resources like the Rhetoric Center and Nexus Financial Coaching. There will be quick help sessions on focused topics.
  • Tuesday, 11 - 12: Meet Your Local Libraries and Librarians. Library staff from Grand Rapids Public and Kent District will be in the fireplace lobby to share information. Students can apply for library cards to use the public libraries in our area.
  • Wednesday, 12 - 1: Panel of our student workers will talk about their experiences using the library and expert tips for research.
  • Thursday, 11 - 2: Library World Scavenger Hunt. You'll pick up a "passport" at the Research Desk and travel through the library, collecting stamps and stickers for each location.
  • Friday, 3 - 5: Hekman Happy Hour. Another round of quick help sessions and then to Peet's Coffee where you'll hear the winners of the raffle and Scavenger Hunt.

Yes, prizes! You have to participate in order to enter your name and be eligible. We're hoping to see many students turn out for these events.
