The Project's biggest undertaking is its series of publications, by the same name, which bridge interdisciplinary scholarship to create guides on "assess[ing], appreciat[ing], and analyz[ing] maps from all periods and cultures."

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) is the United Nations body for studying climate change. They provide regular assessments of the scientific basis of climate change, its impacts and future risks, and options for adaptation and mitigation.

NOAA's National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI) is responsible for preserving, monitoring, assessing, and providing public access to the Nation's treasure of geophysical data and information.
