Tips for Searching

Subject headings are often a more accurate and comprehensive way of searching for a topic than keyword searching. Subject headings can be found on the left-hand column of search results in the catalog, or at the end of a book's catalog entry.

Here are some sample subject searches:

You may want to narrow your search results by choosing from one of the narrower topics displayed on the left side on your results page. The numbers next each subject heading there indicate the number of books (or other items) with that exact heading. By clicking "More" you can see many more selections, such as Statistical methods, History, and Social conditions.
