Quick Renew Online

If a library item is due but you cannot return it yet or wish to keep it longer, you can renew, or extend your check-out period, quickly online.

Go to the Hekman Library Catalog, then click My Account and log in to view the items you have checked out.  For university students, faculty, and staff, use your Calvin username and passphrase to log in; for guests/alumni and Calvin Seminary users, see alternative instructions. Once you are logged in, click on the Items Checked Out tab and choose the items you wish to renew, then click Renew Selected Items to complete the action.

Most general collection library items may be renewed twice, unless another patron has placed a hold on it or unless it belongs to a special collection with more limited renewal options.

Place Holds

If a book you are looking for is already checked out you may place a hold on it to claim it next when it is returned. You can also place a hold for a book that is on the shelf to have it brought to the check-out desk by library staff for you to pick up.

While searching in the Hekman Library Catalog, click on the Place Hold button in the right-hand side of any title in your results to place a hold on it. You may need to log into My Account in the catalog to use this option.

You will be notified when the book is ready for you, and you can give your name at the main check-out desk to pick it up anytime in the next seven days.
