If a library item is due but you cannot return it yet or wish to keep it longer, you can renew, or extend your check-out period, quickly online.
Go to the Hekman Library Catalog, then click Sign In and log in to view the items you have checked out. Once you are logged in, click on the Loans tab and choose the items you wish to renew, then click Renew Selected Items to complete the action.
For InterLibrary Loan (ILL) items: E-mail ill@calvin.edu to request more time.
If a book you are looking for is already checked out you may place a hold on it to claim it next when it is returned. You can also place a hold for a book that is on the shelf to have it brought to the check-out desk by library staff for you to pick up.
While searching in the Hekman Library Catalog, click on the Request option below "Get It," to place a hold on it. You may need to log into My Account in the catalog to use this option.
You will be notified when the book is ready for you, and you can give your name at the main check-out desk to pick it up anytime in the next seven days.
Note that any renewals and holds are subject to the course and research needs of other Calvin University faculty, students, and staff. If you have questions, please ask at the Circulation Desk or contact Access Services staff.
