Hekman Library has over 36,000 e-journals and over 100 subscription databases, as well as hundreds of thousands of ebooks. Most of these are indexed in the library catalog, but there are a few specific tools on the library homepage to explore e-journals and databases specifically. Click the links here or check out the lists below for more specific recommendations:

A majority of the journals covered within the Christian Periodical Index are unique titles to the database. Prominent subjects in these journals include religion, theology, biblical studies and pastoral theology. Christian Periodical Index also provides indexing for journals which put forth a Christian worldview from other disciplines, including science, business, psychology, literature, medicine, music, philosophy, history, sociology and education.

CARD provides access to articles, essays, and lectures dealing with John Calvin and Calvinism from the 16th century to the present. The database is interdisciplinary, covering subjects such as ethics, history, and science, and international, containing scholarly material in English, French, and German, among other languages.
In 1971 the Calvinism Resources Database (CaRD) began as a "Calvin Bibliography" covering the years 1960-1970. It was compiled by Joseph N. Tylenda, a Jesuit priest, and published in the Calvin Theological Journal. The bibliography and database are now maintained by the curator of the H. Henry Meeter Center for Calvin Studies and are updated regularly.

As you search Hekman's journals and databases, you may come across an article that has no PDF or HTML for immediate viewing and instead see the Full-Text@Hekman icon. If you click it, the pop-up message will tell you whether or not we have access to this item, and if not, it will provide a link to Interlibrary Loan. You can also go straight to the ILL request form through the library home page here.
