Faculty

Welcome to Hekman Library

Hekman Library is Calvin's academic library collection and home to the university's research librarians. Great resources and colleagues await you here to enhance your teaching and support student learning!

New Faculty

If you are new to Calvin, please read this guide that introduces new faculty to Hekman Library's collections, services, and policies. We recommend that you get to know your liaison librarian soon after you arrive -- this person can be your guide to all things Hekman.

Information on Faculty Privileges

Faculty are granted the following library privileges:

  • Items are loaned for six months
  • They may request a renewal of items via email. Direct the request to Carla Moyer Hotz.
  • Fines for overdue items are waived. However the Lost Book Fee does still apply.
  • They may check out journal volumes, rare books, and other typically non-circulating items with permission from a librarian.

Librarian Partners

Librarians work collaboratively with faculty in the teaching and learning process. We provide knowledgeable research assistance to members of the Calvin community at the point of need and via appointment. We work with faculty to develop and maintain excellent print and electronic collections.

Librarians are available to answer your questions through our Ask a Librarian service (email) and chat reference (from the library homepage). Our service hours are posted on the library website.
